Nisani by Anitha Creations: A New Chapter
On 27 September 2026, we opened the doors to something that had been a dream for quite some time — Nisani by Anitha Creations, our first physical store in Palakkad.
For us, this is much more than opening a shop. It is the beginning of a new chapter in the journey of Anitha Creations — a journey that started with a simple desire to create something of my own and has grown with the support, encouragement and love of many people around us.
Why Palakkad?
Palakkad is my hometown. It is also the place where we have our strongest support system — our parents, relatives and friends.
My husband's career has meant that we move from place to place on transfers. When we began thinking about opening a physical store, we felt that starting in a place where we already had people who knew us, supported us and cared about what we were building would give us the right foundation.
So, Palakkad felt like the natural choice — a place where our roots run deep.
The story behind the name Nisani
There is a very personal story behind the name Nisani
My husband, Nisant, and I started seeing each other in 2000 and got married in 2010. In 2023, I decided that I wanted to do something of my own. That thought eventually became Anitha Creations.
What began as my idea soon became something we built together in many ways. My husband extended his support in every form and encouraged me to keep going through the different stages of the journey.
Three years later, when we decided to take the next step and open a physical store, we found ourselves looking for a name.
We could have chosen many names. But somehow, no other name felt right.
Nisani is a name created from Nisant and Anitha — the coming together of two people who fell in love, got married, and began building a life together. Somewhere along that journey, we also took on a mission: to build something of our own.
For us, the name carries a little piece of our story with it.
Interestingly, Nisani also means a souvenir or memento.
That meaning resonated with us deeply because of what we want our products to be. Every piece we bring to Anitha Creations is carefully chosen and handpicked. We hope that when a customer takes something home from us, it becomes something to be cherished — something that catches the eye, earns admiration, and becomes memorable to those who see it being worn.
A logo inspired by the craft we believe in
Our logo is inspired by the lotus motif traditionally used in handblock printing.

The lotus has long been associated with purity, beauty and prosperity — qualities that resonate deeply with what we hope Anitha Creations represents. To us, it also symbolises the joy of creating something beautiful from humble beginnings.
The lotus also connects us to the rich visual language of Indian textiles and traditional printing. By drawing inspiration from a motif that has been used by artisans for generations, we wanted our identity to feel rooted in the craft we celebrate.
There is one more detail in our logo that is particularly meaningful to us. Although it appears geometrically perfect at first glance, a closer look reveals slight imperfections. This is intentional. Those subtle irregularities mirror one of the things we love about handcrafted products — they carry the touch of the human hand.
For us, perfection does not always mean absolute uniformity. Sometimes, it is the little variations that tell you something was made by hand, with time, skill and care.
That is the beauty we see in handcrafted work.
Why did we need a physical store?
Handcrafted fabrics often require many days of work involving multiple artisans. The time, skill and effort that go into creating them naturally make them more expensive than many machine-made alternatives.
While many of our customers have appreciated this value, we also understood something important about buying such products online.
When someone is spending their hard-earned money on a saree or another premium handcrafted fabric, they may want to be absolutely sure about what they are buying.
They may want to touch the fabric, feel its texture and quality, see its colours with their own eyes, and understand how it actually drapes.
A photograph and a description can communicate a lot, but there are things about fabric that can only be understood when you experience it physically.
That was one of the biggest reasons behind our decision to open Nisani.
We wanted to create a place where our customers could slow down, explore the fabrics, touch and feel them, and make their purchase with confidence.
A store designed around the customer
When we started looking for a place for Nisani, we were not simply looking for a shop.
We were thinking about the experience we wanted our customers to have.
Visibility from the main road was important so that customers could easily identify and find us.
We wanted adequate parking, because shopping should not begin with the stress of finding somewhere to leave your vehicle.
We also wanted comfortable seating, where customers could take their time while looking through the collections.
The ambience was equally important. We wanted the store to have a refined yet welcoming feel, reflecting the quality and character of the products we curate.
And there was one more thing we paid particular attention to — natural light.
Fabrics can look very different under artificial lighting. Having sufficient sunlight in the store allows our customers to see the colours and textures more naturally and get a better understanding of what the fabric actually looks like.
Every one of these decisions came from a simple thought:
If we are asking our customers to trust us with their hard-earned money, we should give them the opportunity to experience the product properly before they make that decision.

Less, but carefully chosen
Another conscious decision we made was not to fill the store with an overwhelming number of products.
Nisani is intentionally focused on a limited selection of premium fabrics.
Our primary focus is on fabrics suitable for office wear, functions and festive occasions.
We believe that presenting too many unrelated products can sometimes make it harder for a customer to find what they are actually looking for. Instead, we want our collections to be curated carefully so that customers can explore them without feeling overwhelmed.
Alongside the fabrics, we have also handpicked a selection of accessories such as earrings, chains and bangles.
Many of these are themselves handcrafted or handmade.
The idea is simple: if a customer finds something they love at Nisani, they should not have to immediately start another search for accessories that complement their purchase. We want to make that part of the experience easier too.
A beginning we are grateful for
Nisani was inaugurated on 27 September 2026 by Dr. Deepthi S., IVF Specialist, and Kum. Priya Ramakrishnan, Social Worker, in the presence of our family and friends.
Having the people who have supported us throughout our journey with us on that day made the occasion especially meaningful.
Opening the doors of Nisani is not the destination for Anitha Creations. It is another milestone in a journey that began with a simple desire to create something of my own and continues to evolve with every step.
Anitha Creations began online. Nisani gives us a physical space to bring our fabrics closer to our customers — to let them see, touch, feel and experience the craftsmanship for themselves.
We invite you to visit us in Palakkad, spend some time with our collections and experience Nisani by Anitha Creations.
